Subic Bay Satellite Systems, Inc. (SBSSI), a domestic corporation under SEC Registration number AS095-001154 was established in August 1994 and started its operation in February 1995 to operate its Asian Satellite Operations Control Center . Its license under Registration Certificate and Tax Exemption No. 94-0035 is to operate, control, command, relay, and provide support services to in-orbit satellites and to provide commercial satellite services from in-orbit satellites to and from the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and the Asia Pacific Region (excluding the rest of the Philippines), exclusively for customers located outside the Philippines.
Major services offered are satellite uplink, satellite downlink, satellite digital turnaround, satellite full duplex services, VSAT antenna installation, microwave radio relay, TV programming services, cable TV, and other related services.
The company has considerable engineering expertise in system integration of satellite Internet networks, satellite VOIP systems, satellite telephony, telephone switching, and data broadcasting. SBSSI has a fully equipped television studio for live TV broadcasts, video edit suites, videotape play out, and tape library facilities with skilled video editors and tape play out personnel. A facilities division that provides the equipment repair, power and mechanical engineering services supporting all other sections of the company.
Subic Bay Satellite Systems, Inc. (SBSSI) is a privately-owned full service teleport located in the SBFZ on approximately 5,000 square meters of secluded land close to the Subic Bay International Airport. SBSSI has an exclusive 15 year license (with a 10 year option to extend) to operate a satellite teleport in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
SBSSI has nine (9) transmit/receive antennas ranging from 4.5 meters to 11 meters and thirteen (13) RO antennas enabling it to provide video and data relay services between the USA and Asia and Europe. The company has sufficient land to install several additional large satellite antennas as and when required. The teleport also has a fiber connection to the USA to provide fiber/satellite relay services where minimum transmission delay is important (e.g. VOIP).
Keeping the station operational, 24 hours a day is essential, so the company has invested heavily in a comprehensive emergency power system comprising of 95KVA UPS and 1 x 180KVA and 2 x 100KVA diesel emergency generators.
With the current turn of event as a result of IT evolution, SBSSI refurbished its system and structure on January 2000, to prepare for fiber connectivity in USA that will provide fiber/satellite relay services where there is minimum transmission delay.
With this direction SBSSI provides a range of high-speed satellite delivered Internet across Asia Pacific which is a cost-effective method of accessing fast Internet at any location in the region. Operating from our state-of-the art satellite teleport in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Philippines, SBSSI is now connected to the Internet backbone in the USA by broadband transpacific fiber. The fiber is connected to SBSSI’s satellite uplink to various satellites with footprints covering the Asia-Pacific-Africa region. Through these satellites, SBSSI can target up to 128 countries, providing customers anywhere in the region with high speed Internet.
The SBSSI satellite Internet service puts you one hop away from the Internet backbone. You can choose speeds from 64 KBPS to 45 MBPS either simplex services (downlink only) or duplex service (two-way connection at the same or different bandwidths for send/receive).
